Port Robinson, Ontario
On November 30, 1829, the Canadian Schooner Annie and Jane of York and the R.H. Boughton of Youngston, NY set sail from Port Dalhousie at the mouth of Lake Ontario to Port Robinson, Ontario. Up until this time all transportation over the Great Lakes was forced to endure an arduous portage from Queenston to Chippawa. With the completion of the Welland Canal Port Robinson became a vital point along this new waterway.
